Category: Telephony/VoIP

Description: Defines Cisco Systems multimedia registration textual conventions and type definitions.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is MULTI-MEDIA-REG-TC?

MULTI-MEDIA-REG-TC is a Cisco Systems support module that defines textual conventions (shared data types) and the OID subtree used by Cisco's family of multimedia/voice-related MIB modules, rather than a monitorable MIB in its own right. It contains no runtime data objects, tables, or traps of its own — its only content is type definitions and OID roots that other Cisco MultiMedia MIBs import and build upon. As such it is not used directly for monitoring hardware or software status; instead it standardizes how related MIBs represent identifiers so downstream multimedia MIBs can expose consistent status information. It is explicitly a dependency for other Cisco MultiMedia MIB modules, which import its textual conventions and OID definitions. It is deployed indirectly, wherever Cisco voice/video/multimedia equipment (e.g., Unified Communications gateways) uses one of the dependent MIBs. Engineers can download the MULTI-MEDIA-REG-TC file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in MULTI-MEDIA-REG-TC. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • vendor-neutral (Cisco-defined) textual-convention module, not tied to a specific device; used by Cisco multimedia/voice MIBs

Monitoring Examples

This module is a conformance/type-definition support MIB with no runtime data objects or tables of its own (sample_objects is empty), so there is no monitoring scenario to describe honestly — its value is entirely as an imported dependency for other Cisco multimedia MIB modules that define the actual pollable objects.
