fethPortUpper32ReadableOctets

Module: MODULES-MIB

OID (symbolic): MODULES-MIB::fethPortUpper32ReadableOctets

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.81.12.6.1.1.1.15

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter

Access: read-only

Description: This object is the number of octets contained in valid frames that have been received on this port. This counter is incremented by OctetCount for each frame received on this port which has been determined to be a readable frame (i.e., including FCS octets but excluding framing bits and dribble bits).

This statistic provides an indicator of the total data transferred.

Note that this counter and fethPortLower32ReadableOctets forms a 64 bits counter. It is provided for those network management protocols that do not support 64 bit counters (e.g. SNMP V1) and the repeater type is 100Mbs. REFERENCE Reference IETF 100Base-T Repeater MIB, rptr100MonitorPortUpper32ReadableOctets.

What is fethPortUpper32ReadableOctets?

Holds the upper 32 bits of a 64-bit readable-octets total for this port, paired with fethPortLower32ReadableOctets because SNMPv1 management stations can't carry a native 64-bit counter; an admin or NMS reconstructs the full byte count by combining both halves when monitoring high-volume 100Mbps traffic that would otherwise overflow a 32-bit counter too quickly.
