fethPortLower32ReadableOctets

Module: MODULES-MIB

OID (symbolic): MODULES-MIB::fethPortLower32ReadableOctets

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.81.12.6.1.1.1.16

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter

Access: read-only

Description: This object is the number of octets contained in valid frames that have been received on this port. This counter is incremented by OctetCount for each frame received on this port which has been determined to be a readable frame (i.e., including FCS octets but excluding framing bits and dribble bits).

This statistic provides an indicator of the total data transferred.

Note that this counter and fethPortUpper32ReadableOctets forms a 64 bits counter. It is provided for those network management protocols that do not support 64 bit counters (e.g. SNMP V1) and the repeater type is 100Mbs. REFERENCE Reference IEEE Draft Std 802.3u/D4 Rptr Mgt, 30.4.3.1.5, aReadableOctets. Reference IETF 100Base-T Repeater MIB, rptr100MonitorPortLower32ReadableOctets.

What is fethPortLower32ReadableOctets?

Holds the lower 32 bits of the same 64-bit readable-octets total described by fethPortUpper32ReadableOctets; together the pair lets an SNMPv1-only management station track total bytes received on this fast port without the overflow problems a single 32-bit counter would have at 100Mbps speeds.
