Module: ME1200-DNS-MIB

OID (symbolic): ME1200-DNS-MIB::me1200DnsGlobalsServerStaticVlanId

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.815.1.53.1.2.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: ME1200Unsigned16

Access: read-write

Description: The ID of specific VLAN interface that DNS server address will be retrieved from DHCP. It will be a reference only when DnsServerType is dhcpVlan(3).

What is me1200DnsGlobalsServerStaticVlanId?

This read-write integer specifies which VLAN interface the switch should retrieve its DHCP-assigned DNS server address from, but it is only referenced when me1200DnsGlobalsServerSetting is set to dhcpVlan(3). Admins configure this in multi-VLAN environments to pin DNS-server discovery to a particular management or uplink VLAN's DHCP lease rather than any DHCP response the switch happens to receive. For example, setting me1200DnsGlobalsServerStaticVlanId to 10, with the server setting on dhcpVlan(3), makes the switch obtain its DNS server address specifically from the DHCP process on VLAN 10.
