Module: ME1200-DNS-MIB

OID (symbolic): ME1200-DNS-MIB::me1200DnsGlobalsServerSetting

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.815.1.53.1.2.1.1

Description: DNS server administrative type. dhcp(0) denotes DNS server setting will be derived from DHCP. none(1) denotes no DNS server setting will be applied. static(2) denotes DNS server setting will be manually set. dhcpVlan(3) denotes DNS server setting will be derived from DHCP on specific VLAN.

What is me1200DnsGlobalsServerSetting?

This read-write enumerated value selects how the switch determines its DNS server: dhcp(0) derives it from DHCP, none(1) disables DNS server use, static(2) uses a manually configured address, and dhcpVlan(3) derives it from DHCP on a specific VLAN. Admins set this to control the source of DNS resolution for the switch's own management functions, choosing static(2) when they want a fixed, always-available resolver rather than depending on DHCP. For example, setting me1200DnsGlobalsServerSetting to static(2) tells the switch to use the address configured in me1200DnsGlobalsServerStaticAddress rather than whatever DNS server DHCP might hand out.
