mnNotificationsEnabled
Module: MAC-NOTIFICATION-MIB
OID (symbolic): MAC-NOTIFICATION-MIB::mnNotificationsEnabled
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.13464.1.2.3.3.1.1.1.5
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: TruthValue
Access: read-write
Description: Indicates whether mnMacChangedNotification notifications will or will not be sent when there are MAC addresses learnt or removed from the device's forwarding database. Disabling notifications does not prevent the MAC address info from being added to the mnHistoryTable.
What is mnNotificationsEnabled?
This read-write flag controls whether mnMacChangedNotification traps are actually sent when MAC addresses are learned or removed, defaulting to false. Disabling notifications does not stop the device from recording MAC change events into mnHistoryTable, so an admin can retain a local audit trail while suppressing trap traffic to the NMS. For example, an admin might leave mnNotificationsEnabled at false on a busy access switch to avoid flooding the trap receiver, while still reviewing mnHistoryTable locally when needed.
