mnMacAddrRemovedEnable

Module: MAC-NOTIFICATION-MIB

OID (symbolic): MAC-NOTIFICATION-MIB::mnMacAddrRemovedEnable

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.13464.1.2.3.3.1.1.2.1.1.2

Description: Indicates whether this interface is enabled to send mnMacChangedNotification when a MAC address which it learnt previously is removed from the forwarding table. This variable has no effect when the value of mnGlobalFeatureEnabled object is false(2).

Setting this object to true(1) enables the sending of mnMacChangedNotification when a MAC address which this interface learnt previously is removed from the forwarding table.

Setting this object to false(2) disables the sending of mnMacChangedNotification when a MAC address which this interface learnt previously is removed from the forwarding table.

What is mnMacAddrRemovedEnable?

This read-write, per-interface flag controls whether mnMacChangedNotification is sent when a MAC address previously learned on that interface is removed from the forwarding table, and has no effect if mnGlobalFeatureEnabled is false. An admin enables this on interfaces where they want visibility into devices disconnecting or aging out, complementing mnMacAddrLearntEnable's learn-side notifications. For example, enabling mnMacAddrRemovedEnable on a server-facing port lets the admin be notified if that server's MAC address unexpectedly ages out, which could indicate a link or NIC problem.

Examples

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> MAC-NOTIFICATION-MIB::mnMacAddrRemovedEnable

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.13464.1.2.3.3.1.1.2.1.1.2.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> MAC-NOTIFICATION-MIB::mnMacAddrRemovedEnable.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.13464.1.2.3.3.1.1.2.1.1.2.1 s <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> mnMacAddrRemovedEnable.1
