mnHistTableMaxLength

Module: MAC-NOTIFICATION-MIB

OID (symbolic): MAC-NOTIFICATION-MIB::mnHistTableMaxLength

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.13464.1.2.3.3.1.1.1.7

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Unsigned32

Access: read-write

Description: The upper limit on the number of entries that the mnHistoryTable may contain. A value of 0 will prevent any history from being retained. When this table is full, the oldest entry will be deleted and a new one will be created.

What is mnHistTableMaxLength?

This read-write value caps how many entries the mnHistoryTable can retain, with a value of 0 disabling history retention entirely. When the table reaches this limit, the oldest entry is deleted to make room for each new MAC change event, so an admin sets this to balance retention depth against memory use. For example, raising mnHistTableMaxLength from the default of 1 to 200 lets the admin review roughly the last 200 MAC learn/remove events instead of just the single most recent one.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.13464.1.2.3.3.1.1.1.7
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> MAC-NOTIFICATION-MIB::mnHistTableMaxLength

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.13464.1.2.3.3.1.1.1.7.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> MAC-NOTIFICATION-MIB::mnHistTableMaxLength.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.13464.1.2.3.3.1.1.1.7.1 i <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> mnHistTableMaxLength.1
