juniFileXferRemoteUserPassword

Module: Juniper-FILE-XFER-MIB

OID (symbolic): Juniper-FILE-XFER-MIB::juniFileXferRemoteUserPassword

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.4874.2.2.23.1.1.1.6

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: OCTET STRING

Access: read-write

Description: The password to use when requesting the file transfer to/from the remote system. When read, this object returns a zero string. Note that, for security reasons, some FTP servers may insist on a non-zero length user password.

This object has been obsoleted. Use the enterprise host MIB in order to configure the password.

What is juniFileXferRemoteUserPassword?

juniFileXferRemoteUserPassword is an obsolete read-write octet string, up to 64 characters, that formerly held the password used to authenticate a file transfer's remote connection, always reading back as an empty string for security. Some FTP servers require a non-empty password even for anonymous logins, so an admin previously had to populate this alongside juniFileXferRemoteUserName, but the object is now obsolete and credentials should be configured via the enterprise host MIB instead. For instance, a legacy setup might have set this to a placeholder like "guest@" to satisfy a strict FTP server's login requirement, though new deployments should not rely on it.
