Category: Technology: WAN Optimization, Vendor: Juniper

Description: Juniper Networks WX series MIB defining event notifications and traps for WAN acceleration appliance status changes.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is JUNIPER-WX-EVENT-MIB?

This Juniper enterprise MIB defines event notifications and traps for the WX Series WAN acceleration appliances, signaling status changes relevant to WAN optimization operation. It exposes trap-oriented data, primarily an event description string (jnxWxGrpEventDescr) carried in notifications about appliance or WX peer-group state changes. Monitoring emphasis is on fault/event status of the software service — such as a WX acceleration tunnel or peer group going down or coming back up — signaled via traps rather than polled counters, functioning as an availability/health alerting channel rather than a hardware sensor source. It works together with the base JUNIPER-WX-COMMON-MIB for shared conventions and JUNIPER-WX-MIB for the runtime object data referenced in its traps. It is deployed on Juniper WX Series WAN acceleration appliances in branch/data-center pairs to alert operations teams to link or peer-group status changes. Engineers can download the JUNIPER-WX-EVENT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in JUNIPER-WX-EVENT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Juniper WX Series WAN acceleration appliance

Monitoring Examples

An SNMP trap receiver would capture WX event traps and read jnxWxGrpEventDescr to get a human-readable description of what changed, for example a WX peer group losing its acceleration tunnel connection. Because this MIB is event/trap-oriented rather than counter-based, the value comes from correlating the jnxWxGrpEventDescr text with the affected WX peer group to drive alerting rather than periodic polling.

What Can Be Monitored
