linkDownCount

Module: ITOUCH-LINK-MIB

OID (symbolic): ITOUCH-LINK-MIB::linkDownCount

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.33.24.1.1.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter

Access: read-only

Description: Number of times that the link has been down.

What is linkDownCount?

This Counter is the number of times this link has transitioned to the down state. A high count relative to a short observation period signals a flapping link, which admins treat differently from a link that's simply been down once for a long stretch, tracked separately by linkDownTime. For example, a linkDownCount that increases every few minutes points to an intermittent physical or carrier issue rather than a single sustained outage.
