Reports the total number of octets received on the interface, including framing characters, as a 64-bit counter, the high-capacity version of ifInOctets. Admins use this counter on high-speed interfaces where the standard 32-bit ifInOctets would wrap too quickly to be useful for accurate throughput calculation. Polling this value twice a minute apart and computing the delta gives an accurate inbound byte rate even on a fully-utilized 10 Gbps interface.
