OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.91.1.1.1.9

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Description: The Robustness Variable allows tuning for the expected packet loss on a subnet. If a subnet is expected to be lossy, the Robustness Variable may be increased. MLD is robust to (Robustness Variable-1) packet losses. The discussion of the Robustness Variable is in Section 7.1 of RFC 2710.

What is mldInterfaceRobustness?

This value sets the MLD Robustness Variable for the interface, which tunes how many query retransmissions compensate for expected packet loss. Admins raise it above the default of 2 on lossy subnets so MLD can tolerate more dropped Query or Report packets without falsely aging out a membership. For example, setting it to 3 makes the interface robust to two lost packets before it drops a group membership.
