This value reports the unicast routing protocol, such as OSPF or BGP, via which the route used to find the upstream or parent interface for this multicast forwarding entry was learned. An admin checks it to understand which routing protocol's information is driving the RPF check for a given multicast flow. For example, seeing ospf(13) here confirms the multicast RPF lookup is relying on OSPF's unicast topology rather than a static route.
