Description: Specifies the default SNMP community string to be used by a management station in communicating with the IP Gateway Card. Used with the default management station IP address for management security access.
What is ipgwCfgDefCommStr?
This read-write DisplayString (0..32 chars) specifies, per its source description, the default SNMP community string a management station must use to communicate with this IP Gateway Card, used together with ipgwCfgDefMgmtStationIp for management security. Admins change this from any factory default to a stronger, custom string as a basic security hardening step for the card's SNMP access. For example, setting this to a unique string known only to the network team would prevent unauthorized SNMP access even from the designated management station's IP if the string isn't known.
