Description:
The total number of octets transmitted in IP multicast datagrams. This object counts the same octets as ipSystemStatsOutMcastOctets, but allows for larger values.
Discontinuities in the value of this counter can occur at re-initialization of the management system, and at other times as indicated by the value of ipSystemStatsDiscontinuityTime.
What is ipSystemStatsHCOutMcastOctets?
This 64-bit counter measures the total number of octets (bytes) transmitted in IP multicast datagrams on the system, providing capacity for much larger values than the 32-bit version. It counts the same data as the standard multicast octet counter but allows for continuous monitoring without overflow on high-traffic systems. An operator would track this to measure multicast traffic volume and detect unexpected changes in broadcast distribution patterns.
