Description: The total number of octets transmitted in IP multicast datagrams. Octets from datagrams counted in ipIfStatsOutMcastPkts MUST be counted here.
Discontinuities in the value of this counter can occur at re-initialization of the management system, and at other times as indicated by the value of ipIfStatsDiscontinuityTime.
What is ipIfStatsOutMcastOctets?
This object counts the total number of bytes transmitted in IP multicast datagrams on a specific interface. It measures the volume of multicast traffic leaving the interface. An operator would use this counter to monitor multicast throughput and verify that multicast services are transmitting at expected data rates.
