ipIfStatsHCOutForwDatagrams

Module: IP-MIB

OID (symbolic): IP-MIB::ipIfStatsHCOutForwDatagrams

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.4.31.3.1.24

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter64

Access: read-only

Description:

The number of datagrams for which this entity was not their final IP destination and for which it was successful in finding a path to their final destination. This object counts the same packets as ipIfStatsOutForwDatagrams, but allows for larger values.

Discontinuities in the value of this counter can occur at re-initialization of the management system, and at other times as indicated by the value of

ipIfStatsDiscontinuityTime.

What is ipIfStatsHCOutForwDatagrams?

This read-only 64-bit counter tracks the number of IP datagrams successfully forwarded by this interface (where this device is not the final destination), using 64-bit counters to accommodate high-speed interfaces that would overflow 32-bit counters. The count mirrors ipIfStatsOutForwDatagrams but allows larger values. An operator uses this to measure inter-subnet routing throughput and detect interface saturation on high-speed links.
