switchIfSpecific

Module: INTELCORPORATION-MULTI-FLEX-SERVER-SWITCH-MIB

OID (symbolic): INTELCORPORATION-MULTI-FLEX-SERVER-SWITCH-MIB::switchIfSpecific

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.343.2.19.1.2.10.203.3.1.22

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: OBJECT IDENTIFIER

Access: read-only

Description: A reference to MIB definitions specific to the particular media being used to realize the interface. It is

recommended that this value point to an instance of a MIB object in the media-specific MIB, i.e., that this object have the semantics associated with the InstancePointer textual convention defined in RFC 2579. In fact, it is recommended that the media-specific MIB specify what value switchIfSpecific should/can take for values of switchIfType. If no MIB definitions specific to the particular media are available, the value should be set to the OBJECT IDENTIFIER { 0 0 }.

What is switchIfSpecific?

A deprecated pointer (OBJECT IDENTIFIER) meant to reference media-specific MIB definitions for this interface type, with { 0 0 } used when no such definitions apply. It's largely a legacy field an admin can ignore in favor of switchIfType-based interpretation of the row.
