switchIfIndex

Module: INTELCORPORATION-MULTI-FLEX-SERVER-SWITCH-MIB

OID (symbolic): INTELCORPORATION-MULTI-FLEX-SERVER-SWITCH-MIB::switchIfIndex

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.343.2.19.1.2.10.203.3.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: InterfaceIndex

Access: read-only

Description: A unique value, greater than zero, for each interface. It is recommended that values are assigned contiguously starting from 1. The value for each interface sub-layer must remain constant at least from one re-initialization of the entity's network management system to the next re- initialization.

What is switchIfIndex?

A unique per-interface index (assigned contiguously from 1) identifying a row in switchIfTable, mirroring the semantics of the standard IF-MIB ifIndex. It stays constant across manager restarts for as long as the interface exists, so it's the stable key to use when polling this switch's interface counters over time.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.343.2.19.1.2.10.203.3.1.1
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> INTELCORPORATION-MULTI-FLEX-SERVER-SWITCH-MIB::switchIfIndex

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.343.2.19.1.2.10.203.3.1.1.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> INTELCORPORATION-MULTI-FLEX-SERVER-SWITCH-MIB::switchIfIndex.1

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> switchIfIndex.1
