Description: This object indicates whether or not some manager currently has the necessary 'ownership' required to invoke a test on this interface. A write to this object is only successful when it changes its value from 'notInUse(1)' to 'inUse(2)'. After completion of a test, the agent resets the value back to 'notInUse(1)'.
What is ifTestStatus?
This deprecated read-write object shows whether a manager currently holds the 'ownership' needed to run a test on the interface, with notInUse(1) meaning free and inUse(2) meaning a test is active; a write only succeeds when it flips the value from notInUse to inUse. The agent automatically resets it back to notInUse(1) once the test finishes, so it doubles as a busy/done flag. For example, a manager sets ifTestStatus to inUse(2) to claim the interface for a diagnostic loopback test, and the agent flips it back to notInUse(1) once the test completes.
