ifTestId

Module: IF-MIB

OID (symbolic): IF-MIB::ifTestId

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.31.1.3.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: TestAndIncr

Access: read-write

Description: This object identifies the current invocation of the interface's test.

What is ifTestId?

This deprecated read-write TestAndIncr object identifies the current invocation of a diagnostic test running on the interface, incrementing to signal a new test request. It exists to let a manager start and track interface self-tests, though it has been superseded by other mechanisms in most modern implementations. For example, a management station increments ifTestId to kick off a new loopback test on a serial interface and then polls ifTestStatus to see when it completes.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.31.1.3.1.1
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> IF-MIB::ifTestId

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.31.1.3.1.1.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> IF-MIB::ifTestId.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.31.1.3.1.1.1 s <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> ifTestId.1
