Description: Below is the status of rouge ont detection: 1: start rogue detection 2: stop rogue detection 3: detect rogue exist 4: rogue ont does not exist 5: discover rogue ont

What is gponRogueOntDetectStatus?

This read-only enumerated value reports the state of the GPON rogue-ONT detection process, from 1 (start) through 5 (discover rogue ont), including states for detecting or ruling out a rogue ONT. Admins monitor it to know whether an unauthorized or malfunctioning ONT is interfering with the PON. A trap with this value at 3 (detect rogue exist) alerts the admin that a rogue ONT was found disrupting the optical line.

Start monitoring ZyXEL IES 5206 access/aggregation device (trap definitions) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Create custom SNMP monitor using the IES5206-TRAPS-MIB::gponRogueOntDetectStatus OID value, configure state conditions and alerts, and monitor any ZyXEL IES 5206 access/aggregation device (trap definitions) from a single console.

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Select a ZyXEL IES 5206 access/aggregation device (trap definitions) as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type gponRogueOntDetectStatus into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, then select it and click OK. It reports the current rogue-ONT detection status for this PON port (idle, detecting, or a rogue ONT found). On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is an INTEGER-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the value indicates a rogue ONT was detected or exists, since an undetected rogue ONT can disrupt other subscribers on the same PON. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
