Description: The port's current state as defined by application of the Spanning Tree Protocol. This state controls what action a port takes on reception of a frame. If the bridge has detected a port that is malfunctioning it will place that port into the broken(6) state. For ports which are disabled (see rxr1dStpPortEnable), this object will have a value of disabled(1).
What is rxr1dStpPortState?
Reports where this port currently stands in the Spanning Tree Protocol state machine: forwarding(5) means it's passing user traffic normally, blocking(2) means STP has shut off forwarding to prevent a loop, listening(3) and learning(4) are transient states on the way to forwarding, disabled(1) means the port is administratively off (see rxr1dStpPortEnable), and broken(6) flags a port the bridge has detected as malfunctioning. An admin watches for an unexpected broken(6) or a port stuck in blocking to diagnose a spanning-tree or cabling problem.
