ibminterfaceClearDeviceSpecific

Module: IBM-INTERFACE-MIB

OID (symbolic): IBM-INTERFACE-MIB::ibminterfaceClearDeviceSpecific

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2.6.119.4.17.1.1.12

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: When SET to a value of clear(1), all the device specific counters are reset. For example, for an Ethernet interface, all the counters provided in the dot3StatsTable are reset.

When READ, this object always returns a value of noaction(0), since this object is intended as a trigger, rather than providing information.

What is ibminterfaceClearDeviceSpecific?

This read-write trigger object resets all device-specific counters for this interface when set to clear(1), such as, for an Ethernet interface, all counters in the dot3StatsTable; reading it always returns noaction(0) since it exists purely to trigger an action, not to report state. Admins use this to clear media-specific statistics that aren't covered by the generic interface counters. For example, setting it to clear(1) on an Ethernet interface resets its dot3StatsTable collision and alignment error counters.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2.6.119.4.17.1.1.12
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> IBM-INTERFACE-MIB::ibminterfaceClearDeviceSpecific

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2.6.119.4.17.1.1.12.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> IBM-INTERFACE-MIB::ibminterfaceClearDeviceSpecific.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2.6.119.4.17.1.1.12.1 i <value>
