Module: HUAWEI-GTSM-MIB

OID (symbolic): HUAWEI-GTSM-MIB::hwGTSMPolicyTTLMin

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-create

Description: The minimum TTL in the policy table. The minimum TTL is compared with the TTL in the packets to check whether the minimum TTL is between the minimum TTL and maximum TTL, and thus check the validity of the received packets.

What is hwGTSMPolicyTTLMin?

This object sets the minimum acceptable TTL value for a GTSM policy entry, used to check that incoming packets fall within the valid TTL range for that policy. Admins raise this value to reject packets that have traversed more hops than expected, a key defense against spoofed BGP or other control-plane attacks originating far outside the trusted network. Setting this to 254 on a policy for a directly connected BGP peer means only packets arriving with a TTL of 254 or 255 are accepted, rejecting anything that passed through an extra router hop.
