Module: HPOV-NNM-MIB

OID (symbolic): HPOV-NNM-MIB::openViewSourceName

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.17.2.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: OVTextString

Access: accessible-for-notify

Description: The source of the event (may not be the machine upon which the event was generated). This string is used by HP OpenView software when it sends an event. It identifies for which node the event is generated.

What is openViewSourceName?

This text string names the node or entity that an OpenView event is about, which may differ from the machine that actually transmitted the trap. It is used by OpenView software to tell the receiving management station which managed node the alert concerns, even when the trap itself is sent by a central management station rather than the node directly. For example, this field might read "router-core1.example.com" even though the trap was actually emitted by the OpenView management server monitoring that router.
