openViewSourceId

Module: HPOV-NNM-MIB

OID (symbolic): HPOV-NNM-MIB::openViewSourceId

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.17.2.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: accessible-for-notify

Description: The identifier of the software generating the trap/event. This number is used by HP OpenView software when it sends an event to the OpenView event system. It identifies which software component sent the event.

What is openViewSourceId?

This numeric value identifies which HP OpenView software component generated a given trap or event; it exists only inside OpenView trap varbinds and cannot be retrieved with a normal SNMP GET. Management stations parsing incoming OpenView traps use it to determine which internal OpenView process, such as network monitoring versus event correlation, raised a particular alert. For example, two different numeric values here would let an NMS distinguish an event raised by OpenView's netmon daemon from one raised by its correlation engine.
