hpnicfDot3OamLoopbackCommand

Module: HPN-ICF-EFM-COMMON-MIB

OID (symbolic): HPN-ICF-EFM-COMMON-MIB::hpnicfDot3OamLoopbackCommand

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.15.2.42.3.1.3.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This attribute initiates or terminates remote loopback with an OAM peer. Writing startRemoteLoopback(2) to this attribute cause the local OAM client to send a loopback OAMPDU to the OAM peer with the loopback enable flags set. Writing stopRemoteLoopback(3) to this attribute will cause the local OAM client to send a loopback OAMPDU to the OAM peer with the loopback enable flags cleared. Writing noLoopback to this attribute has no effect.

Writes to this attribute are ignored unless the OAM status of this interface is 'operational' (hpnicfDot3OamOperStatus).

The attribute always returns noLoopback on a read. To determine the loopback status, use the attribute hpnicfDot3OamLoopbackStatus.

What is hpnicfDot3OamLoopbackCommand?

This write-only-in-effect control initiates or terminates remote OAM loopback with the peer: noLoopback(1, no effect, and always what reads back), startRemoteLoopback(2, sends a loopback-enable OAMPDU to the peer), or stopRemoteLoopback(3, sends a loopback-disable OAMPDU). Writes are ignored unless hpnicfDot3OamOperStatus is 'operational'; admins should recognize this is a disruptive test that stops normal traffic on the peer's interface while active, and must check hpnicfDot3OamLoopbackStatus (not this object) to see the actual loopback state.
