hpnicfBfdSysInitMode

Module: HPN-ICF-BFD-STD-MIB

OID (symbolic): HPN-ICF-BFD-STD-MIB::hpnicfBfdSysInitMode

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.15.2.72.1.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: A system may take either an active role or a passive role in session initialization. A system taking the active role must send BFD control packets for a particular session, regardless of whether it has received any BFD packets for that session. A system taking the passive role must not begin sending BFD packets for a particular session until it has received a BFD packet for that session, and thus has learned the remote system's discriminator value.

What is hpnicfBfdSysInitMode?

Sets whether the device takes an active(1) or passive(2) role in starting BFD sessions: active systems send BFD control packets unconditionally, while passive systems wait until they've received one from the remote peer. Admins typically leave routers active and may set edge/passive devices to passive to avoid needless probing before the peer is ready.
