hpicfUdldConfigForwardMode

Module: HP-ICF-UDLD-MIB

OID (symbolic): HP-ICF-UDLD-MIB::hpicfUdldConfigForwardMode

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.5.1.33.1.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: The port transmission mode while UDLD verification is in progress. The value 'verifyThenForward' will block ports until a successful UDLD exchange is established. The value forwardThenVerify will forward traffic normally while UDLD link verification is in progress and ports will not be blocked until the UDLD retry count is exceeded.

What is hpicfUdldConfigForwardMode?

This read-write value controls how a port behaves while UDLD verification is still in progress: verifyThenForward(1) blocks the port until a successful UDLD exchange completes, while forwardThenVerify(2) lets traffic flow normally until the retry count is exceeded. Admins choose forwardThenVerify, the default, to avoid delaying link-up on ports where brief traffic loss during verification is undesirable, or verifyThenForward for stricter loop protection before any traffic is allowed. For example, a security-conscious admin might switch a sensitive uplink to verifyThenForward(1) so it never forwards frames until UDLD has confirmed bidirectional connectivity.
