Module: HP-ICF-LINKTEST

OID (symbolic): HP-ICF-LINKTEST::hpicfLinkTestIfIndex

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.1.6.2.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Description: The local interface to send the link test packets on. The value of this object must correspond to an ifIndex value for an interface capable of supporting the requested link test. The value 0 is used to indicate that the agent should determine the interface using local routing information.

What is hpicfLinkTestIfIndex?

This read-create integer specifies the local interface, by ifIndex, that link test packets are sent out on, with 0 meaning the agent should determine the interface from local routing. Admins set this to control which physical port originates the test traffic when more than one path could reach the target. For example, setting it to 0 lets the switch's routing table pick the outgoing interface automatically.
