snPortCARLimit

Module: HP-CAR-MIB

OID (symbolic): HP-CAR-MIB::snPortCARLimit

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.3.7.11.12.1.3.16.1.1.1.7

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: This is the normal burst size that determines how large traffic bursts can be before some traffic exceeds the rate limit. This specifies the number of bytes that are guaranteed to be transported by the network at the average rate under normal conditions during committed time interval. This normal burst size is in bytes.

What is snPortCARLimit?

snPortCARLimit is the normal burst size in bytes, specifying how much traffic is guaranteed to be transported at the average rate during a committed time interval before some traffic starts exceeding the rate limit. Admins tune this to allow short traffic bursts above the average rate without penalty, accommodating naturally bursty application traffic. For example, an admin allowing brief bursts for a bursty application while still enforcing a long-term average via snPortCARRate would set snPortCARLimit to a value larger than a single packet but smaller than the extended burst limit.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.3.7.11.12.1.3.16.1.1.1.7
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> HP-CAR-MIB::snPortCARLimit

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.3.7.11.12.1.3.16.1.1.1.7.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> HP-CAR-MIB::snPortCARLimit.1
