hm2MACNotifyInterval

Module: HM2-MAC-NOTIFICATION-MIB

OID (symbolic): HM2-MAC-NOTIFICATION-MIB::hm2MACNotifyInterval

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.248.11.35.1.2

What is hm2MACNotifyInterval?

This value sets how often, in seconds, the switch batches and sends MAC address change notifications, rather than firing a separate notification instantly for every single learned or removed MAC address. Administrators tune this interval to balance timeliness of notifications against the load of generating and sending frequent SNMP traps on a busy switch with many MAC changes. For example, an admin on a switch with high MAC churn (like a guest Wi-Fi access network) might raise this from the default of 1 second to something like 30 seconds to reduce trap volume, accepting slightly delayed notifications in exchange.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.248.11.35.1.2
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> HM2-MAC-NOTIFICATION-MIB::hm2MACNotifyInterval

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.248.11.35.1.2.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> HM2-MAC-NOTIFICATION-MIB::hm2MACNotifyInterval.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.248.11.35.1.2.1 i <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> hm2MACNotifyInterval.1
