Module: HM2-LINK-BACKUP-MIB

OID (symbolic): HM2-LINK-BACKUP-MIB::hm2LinkBackupPrimaryInterfaceStatus

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.248.11.40.1.3.1.1.2.1.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: HmLinkBackupStatus

Access: read-only

Description: The current status of the primary interface for this link backup pair.

What is hm2LinkBackupPrimaryInterfaceStatus?

This read-only value reports the current forwarding state of the primary interface in a link backup pair, one of forwarding(1), blocking(2), down(3), or unknown(4). An admin monitors this to confirm the primary link is actively carrying traffic versus having failed over to the backup, which would show as blocking or down. For example, seeing hm2LinkBackupPrimaryInterfaceStatus change from forwarding(1) to down(3) tells the admin the primary uplink has failed and traffic should now be riding the backup interface.
