chIndFwdMode

Module: HLS-MIB

OID (symbolic): HLS-MIB::chIndFwdMode

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.26.2.17.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: The value of this object determines whether frames destined for unknown individual addresses (i.e. unicast addresses which are not present in the bridge's forwarding tables) are to be forwarded on this channel.

What is chIndFwdMode?

Controls whether frames destined for unicast addresses the bridge hasn't yet learned are forwarded out this channel. Disabling this on a channel prevents unknown-unicast flooding onto that segment, at the cost of dropping traffic to genuinely new, not-yet-learned stations until they are learned elsewhere.
