gsEBufferPriorityServicing

Module: GIGAswitchEthernet-MIB

OID (symbolic): GIGAswitchEthernet-MIB::gsEBufferPriorityServicing

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.36.2.18.39.3.7.1.1.7

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: The value of this object configures how often the normal priority queue is serviced relative to the high priority queue. By default, the normal priority queue is serviced every thousand frames(3). This means that the normal priority queue is guaranteed to be serviced after servicing, at most, one thousand high priority frames.

It is important to service the normal priority queue for two reasons. One is to prevent starvation for frames on the normal priority queue. The other reason is that frames cannot be aged if they are not serviced (see the age timer).

What is gsEBufferPriorityServicing?

Configures how often the normal-priority queue gets serviced relative to the high-priority queue, defaulting to everyThousand(3) (guaranteed service after at most 1,000 high-priority frames). Admins tighten this to everyFour(5) on a link mixing latency-sensitive high-priority traffic with bulk normal traffic, to keep the normal queue from starving and having its frames age out unserviced.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.36.2.18.39.3.7.1.1.7
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> GIGAswitchEthernet-MIB::gsEBufferPriorityServicing

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.36.2.18.39.3.7.1.1.7.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> GIGAswitchEthernet-MIB::gsEBufferPriorityServicing.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.36.2.18.39.3.7.1.1.7.1 i <value>
