Module: GET-SUBTREE-MIB

OID (symbolic): GET-SUBTREE-MIB::getSubtreeControlTarget

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9911.1.1.2.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: SnmpAdminString

Access: read-create

Description: This object selects a management target defined in the snmpTargetAddrTable (in the SNMP-TARGET-MIB). The selected target is defined by an entry in the snmpTargetAddrTable whose index value (snmpTargetAddrName) is equal to this object.

What is getSubtreeControlTarget?

This SnmpAdminString names the management target the agent should send the retrieved subtree data to, matching an entry in the snmpTargetAddrTable from SNMP-TARGET-MIB by its snmpTargetAddrName index. An admin uses it to point a GetSubtree operation at the right receiving management station rather than the requester itself. For example, setting this to "trapReceiver1" directs subtree results to whichever address and port that name resolves to in the target address table.
