Module: GERP-MIB
OID (symbolic): GERP-MIB::gerpBrdgRole
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.13464.1.2.4.7.1.1.7.1.3
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-write
Description: The bridge role in ethernet ring.
What is gerpBrdgRole?
This object sets this bridge's role within the Ethernet ring: master(1), trans(2, a transit node), edge(3), or assEdge(4, assistant edge). Admins assign roles across the ring's nodes so that exactly one node acts as ring master to block redundant paths, while others transit traffic or terminate at ring edges. Setting gerpBrdgRole to master(1) on one switch designates it as the ring's protection controller, responsible for blocking one port to prevent a loop under normal conditions.
