gBondEthInLargeFragments

Module: GBOND-ETH-MIB

OID (symbolic): GBOND-ETH-MIB::gBondEthInLargeFragments

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.211.2.1.1.3.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter32

Access: read-only

Description: A number of fragments larger than maxFragmentSize (512 Bytes), which have been received across the gamma interface and discarded.

This object maps to the WT-159 attribute aEthRxLargeFragments. Discontinuities in the value of this counter can occur at re-initialization of the management system, and at other times as indicated by the value of ifCounterDiscontinuityTime, defined in IF-MIB.

What is gBondEthInLargeFragments?

This counter tracks the number of fragments larger than the maximum fragment size of 512 bytes received across the gamma interface and discarded, per WT-159 attribute aEthRxLargeFragments, and can experience discontinuities at re-initialization. Admins monitor this to detect oversized fragments being discarded on a bonded Ethernet link, which may indicate a misconfigured or malfunctioning peer. For example, a steadily increasing count points to fragments exceeding the 512-byte limit being consistently generated by the far end.
