rHistoryControlDataSource

Module: GBNServiceRMON-MIB

OID (symbolic): GBNServiceRMON-MIB::rHistoryControlDataSource

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.13464.1.2.3.2.2.1.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: OBJECT IDENTIFIER

Access: read-write

Description: This object identifies the source of the data for which historical data was collected and placed in a media-specific table on behalf of this historyControlEntry. This source can be any interface on this device. In order to identify a particular interface, this object shall identify the instance of the ifIndex object, defined in RFC 1213 and RFC 1573 [4,6], for the desired interface. For example, if an entry were to receive data from interface #1, this object would be set to ifIndex.1.

The statistics in this group reflect all packets on the local network segment attached to the identified interface.

An agent may or may not be able to tell if fundamental changes to the media of the interface have occurred and necessitate an invalidation of this entry. For example, a hot-pluggable ethernet card could be pulled out and replaced by a token-ring card. In such a case, if the agent has such knowledge of the change, it is recommended that it invalidate this entry.

This object may not be modified if the associated historyControlStatus object is equal to valid(1).

What is rHistoryControlDataSource?

This read-write object points to the interface (via its ifIndex value) whose statistics get periodically sampled and archived under this history control entry. An admin sets it, for example to ifIndex.1, when creating a new history-sampling schedule, and cannot change it once the entry is valid.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.13464.1.2.3.2.2.1.1.2
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> GBNServiceRMON-MIB::rHistoryControlDataSource

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.13464.1.2.3.2.2.1.1.2.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> GBNServiceRMON-MIB::rHistoryControlDataSource.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.13464.1.2.3.2.2.1.1.2.1 s <value>
