syslogTimestampType

Module: GBNPlatformOAMSyslog-MIB

OID (symbolic): GBNPlatformOAMSyslog-MIB::syslogTimestampType

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.13464.1.2.1.1.9.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: set timestamp type shown in output messages. notime: not show timestamp; uptime: show elapse time as timestamp; datetime: show datetime as timestamp.

What is syslogTimestampType?

This read-write INTEGER selects, per its source description, what kind of timestamp appears in syslog output messages: notime (no timestamp at all), uptime (elapsed device uptime as the timestamp), or datetime (a full calendar date and time). Admins choose datetime when they need syslog messages to align with wall-clock time across multiple devices for correlation, or uptime on devices without reliable clock synchronization where relative timing is still useful. For example, selecting datetime(3) on a device with NTP configured would produce log entries with real calendar timestamps that correlate cleanly against logs from other synchronized devices.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.13464.1.2.1.1.9.3
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> GBNPlatformOAMSyslog-MIB::syslogTimestampType

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.13464.1.2.1.1.9.3.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> GBNPlatformOAMSyslog-MIB::syslogTimestampType.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.13464.1.2.1.1.9.3.1 i <value>
