What is fnTrapIpChange?

This OID triggers an alert when the IP address assigned to any network interface on the device changes, whether manually configured or received from DHCP. The notification helps security teams detect unexpected configuration changes. An IT operations team would receive this alert to investigate if an IP changed unexpectedly, potentially indicating a compromise or misconfiguration before services break.

Examples

Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):

snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' FORTINET-CORE-MIB::fnTrapIpChange
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.12356.100.1.3.0.201

Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):

snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public
