OID (symbolic): FORTINET-CORE-MIB::fnTrapFanFailure

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.12356.100.1.3.0.108

Node type: NOTIFICATION-TYPE

Description:

A fan failure has been detected. Not all devices have fan sensors. See manual for specifications.

What is fnTrapFanFailure?

This SNMP trap is generated when the Fortinet security appliance detects that a cooling fan has failed. Not all devices have fan sensors, so this trap may not be supported on smaller models. An operator would configure this trap to receive alerts about cooling system failures so preventive maintenance can be scheduled before the device overheats.

Examples

Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):

snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' FORTINET-CORE-MIB::fnTrapFanFailure
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.12356.100.1.3.0.108

Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):

snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public
