Category: FILTER-MIB

Description: MIB providing configuration and status objects for packet filtering rules applied to network interfaces or management traffic.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is FILTER-MIB?

FILTER-MIB is a D-Link proprietary MIB defining protocol-filtering objects on D-Link managed switches. Its objects cover a DHCP-server permit table (server IP, client MAC, ports, status) and a companion DHCP-permit port table (state) with illegal-server log-suppression duration and a trap-log-state flag, a NetBIOS filter table (per-port state) with an extended variant, a Layer 3 CPU control-packet filter table (per-port RIP/OSPF/VRRP/PIM/DVMRP/IGMP-query state), and an egress-filter control table. As a configuration/security MIB it lets an administrator confirm which protocols (DHCP, NetBIOS, routing-protocol control traffic) are being filtered on a given port — a common defense against rogue DHCP servers and unwanted broadcast/control traffic. It is deployed on D-Link managed switches. Administrators searching for network protocol filtering devices use this MIB's per-port DHCP/NetBIOS filter tables to confirm rogue-traffic filtering is active on a D-Link switch.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in FILTER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • D-Link managed switches

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks swFilterDhcpPermitTable to confirm only the authorized DHCP server's IP address is permitted on a port, blocking a rogue DHCP server from serving addresses on a D-Link switch.

What Can Be Monitored
