Description: This attribute defines the status of ports that may be part of a redundancy scheme. NotActive - indicates a disabled port which cannot transmit or receive packets even if included in a redundancy scheme. Dormant - indicates an enabled port which does not transmit or receive packets, but because it is included in a redundancy scheme, it may at any moment become responsible packet transmission and reception. Active - indicates that the port transmits and receives packets, serving as the main path in the redundant configuration.
What is genPortActivityStatus?
For ports that may participate in a redundancy scheme, reports notActive(1) (disabled), dormant(2) (enabled backup, not currently passing traffic), or active(3) (currently the main path). An admin checks for an unexpected transition from active(3) to dormant(2) as a sign the primary link failed over to backup.
