Module: FASTPATH-MULTICAST-MIB

OID (symbolic): FASTPATH-MULTICAST-MIB::agentMulticastPIMSMInterfaceCRPPreference

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10895.5000.2.6132.1.1.4.3.5.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-write

Description: The preference value for the local interface as a Candidate Rendezvous Point. The value of -1 is used to indicate that the local interface is not a Candidate RP interface.

What is agentMulticastPIMSMInterfaceCRPPreference?

This read-write, obsolete Integer32 (-1 or 0..255, default 0) sets this interface's preference value as a Candidate Rendezvous Point, with -1 meaning the interface is not a Candidate RP at all. Admins use lower preference values to make a particular router more likely to be elected RP for a group in a PIM-SM domain with multiple candidate RPs. Setting agentMulticastPIMSMInterfaceCRPPreference to 10 on a core router's interface, versus a higher value elsewhere, favors that router as the elected RP.
