hpicfFanRecovering

Module: FAN-MIB

OID (symbolic): FAN-MIB::hpicfFanRecovering

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.5.1.54.2.1.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-only

Description: An indication that the switch fan entity is faulty. Before declaring a fan to be good after a failure is detected, the same good indication must happen five (5) times in a row. A failure indication is always TRUE, while a good indication could be FALSE, hence this parameter is used to count the repeated good indications before declaring the fan to be good

What is hpicfFanRecovering?

This read-only integer is a counter used internally by the switch to confirm a fan has truly recovered from a fault: the description states a failed fan must report a good indication five times in a row before it is declared healthy again, and this value tracks that repeated-good count. An admin would generally not act on the raw number directly, but its presence explains why a fan's state may briefly lag behind reality after a fault clears. For example, after physically reseating a failed fan, this counter would need to reach 5 before hpicfFanState flips back to ok(5).
