What is bigipServiceDown?

This notification (trap) is generated whenever an F5 BIG-IP system detects that a backend service or virtual service has gone down. The trap includes details about which service failed and the associated node and port. Operations teams rely on this alert to immediately discover service outages and trigger incident response procedures to restore availability.

Examples

Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):

snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' F5-BIGIP-COMMON-MIB::bigipServiceDown
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.3375.2.4.0.10

Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):

snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public
