What is bigipChassisFanBad?

This notification (trap) is sent when the cooling fan status in an F5 BIG-IP system chassis becomes degraded or non-functional. It alerts operators to potential thermal issues that could affect system performance or stability. Receiving this trap indicates immediate attention is needed to prevent overheating and maintain reliable operation of the load balancer.

Examples

Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):

snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' F5-BIGIP-COMMON-MIB::bigipChassisFanBad
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.3375.2.4.0.8

Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):

snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public
